“We hope that you can come into a better world.” These were the words of two members of the project team, speaking to the child inside the bottle of their project mentor in their fall/winter final show presentation, “A Letter to the Unborn Child.” In this short-lived elective project, members asked questions about the physical, psychological, and social aspects of their lives that they wanted to explore, interviewed various members of the community about their perspectives on these issues, both large and small, and even went into the Maternity and Children’s Hospital to observe the ecology on the ground and talk to other pregnant women. “Before we started, I didn’t think this program could become so interesting because of us.” More than one member said this.

There are a variety of curious clubs, and in the Spring/Summer ’22 season, the “Tentative Club,” founded by community member Ziyou, stood out as the representative club of the season. Even when club hours were over, members were able to run into Ziyou and her team with their cameras in various spaces in the community. Models who don’t usually dress up were “refreshed” by the atmosphere and aesthetics of President ZiYing’s specialties, and experienced the role of “another character” – everyone is a person to be determined. So be brave and realize your fantasies.

  • Coming-of-age Ceremony by the Sea

    Coming-of-age Ceremony by the Sea

Both Study Tour Week and coming-of-age ceremony are our traditional programs, and on November 11th of the Fall/Winter ’22 quarter, we linked the two for the first time with a sparkling open-air coming-of-age ceremony on the beach in Xiamen, to sink our teeth into some serious words while others were on a shopping spree. The five protagonists in turn expressed their confusion and thoughts about adulthood, their responsibilities and expectations through their speeches. As the guest of honor, Mr. Tan Pek Niu, a scholar of late Qing history, shared his understanding of the word “adulthood” – commemorating the human being in the midst of time. After the coming-of-age ceremony, we had an unforgettable 24 hours of craziness.
